View Full Version : Cutting out a broken stringbed

How the heck do I cut out this broken string bed? I've been trying for the past 10 minutes. Did the last stringer do something wrong?

what can i possibly do to remove this? am i just being stupid? Both the crosses and mains are attached to the knots. The only way, and I've tried so far unsuccessfully is to try to cut the string thats going into both grommets, but its hard.

Just slice that parnell knot in half, then pull out the silver poly string. Everything should follow.

Take some nail clippers and snip one of the knots right down the middle. Easiest thing in the world.

For the record, what the stringer did here is not out of line. When you string two-piece like this was done, often the knots are close together and tie off like he did. There are two solutions, cut the knot with a pair of snips, or cut the string between the (on on the outside of the frame).

Or, sometimes, you can pull like hell and pull the string through the knot.

diagonal cutters like these are the best for me

http://img.tennis-warehouse.com/new_big/DIACUTPLIER-1.jpg

it is hard sometimes to get to the strings without scratching the grommet a bit, but it's not so much that it will do any harm, just minor scratches.

you can also just simply pull at the knot and it should slide out.

I can't figure out which picture is better -- the beaver with chainsaw teeth or the two fisted chainsaw bear.

a good set of snips/sheers will get down in the track and snip the one connecting string

In all seriousness, it looks like you may need to take a pair of pliars and pull on the knot to get that short string segment out. The other piece of string (long one) looks like it is taped to the grommet which is weird. Once you get that stuff off, it should be easy to slide through.

Glad you have a sense of humor about it, because this has been a pretty funny thread!

I know this is slightly off-topic but I noticed the racquet in the picture is a KSix One Team, I'm thinking about getting one but I can't seem to find any good reviews of it, could you give me some feedback?

Oh and here's what you use to remove the knot:
