Basically, as a poor student, i was just wondering if there is anything out there as similar as possible to PHT, but sightly cheaper? I've managed to find it and the new RPM quite cheap on the bay, but its not the easiest way of doing things.
Any suggestions? As much as i love tennis, i'd rather spend my student loan on food rather than stringing

Some college team players, get a discount on strings and rackets from Babolat or any other Tennis company. I know a former Div 1 player that got string at about 50% off.

Check out MANTIS Sport, their strings are only $10 if not sponsored and like 6 if you are sponsored. Reels also go for around ten times that, so, being sponsored, I get reels for $60 or so. Their comfort polyester string feels like Pro Hurricane, I've heard, though I've never tried the Babolat before

agree... it gives more spin but may not hold tension as well

I say try out some kevlar. Very dead, very stiff just like PHT but its priced correctly and holds tension waaaaay longer.

I used ashway kevlar 17 crossed with prince synthetic gut (yellow) through school. Best thing I ever did during those years was bringing along my klippermate.
