I think a flat beam is a straight beam but its not curved or rounded and it litterally is flat or rectagular shape to the beam like the prostaff 6.0, pog, ncode 6-1 90 maybe the prestige classic but not sure. A straight beam I think is where the frame is consistent width.

The PS 6.0 has a box beam, not a flat beam.

what are the effects on racquet performance?

Mainly feel, stiffness, and aerodynamics.

I've always considered a straight beam one that doesn't vary in width. So, a straight beam could be flat, rounded, "aero", wide, narrow, etc., so long as it was the same width from handle to top of frame.

so sorry to beat a dead horse, but what are the differences between flat, box, and straight beams?

A flat beam can have different width along the frame but it is always flat, straight beam is the one that doesnt have any variation of width and it could be rounded or flat. I think anyway. A box beam is flat and straight.

I think you could say it has a flat straight beam. JMO.
