View Full Version : FO surface fastest in 20 years

First it was Isner, then I heard Todd Woodbridge telling the Tennis Channel yesterday that this was the fastest the surface has played in 20 years of his experience.

When Nadal wins this, it will be difficult for certain people to trash it as a win on a slow surface.

People managed to trash Nadal when he beat Federer on grass...this win will be easy as hell to take apart.

Oh that when he forced Federer to play in poor light at 9 pm. That win doesn't count.

It doesn't count because it was extremely slow, grass looking clay. Might as well have played on sand...

Face it, the AO win against Fed didn't count either. As a matter of fact anytime anyone beats Federer it does not count, cause it's no fair!!!

Federer only beats himself.

Nadal was never beaten by a player.

The injury only beats Nadal.

I'm sensing a pattern here. The way we can tell that a Grand Slam win counts(the opposing pov that one could ever not count being flatly idiotic on it's face) is when Federer doesn't lose. Federer wins = it counts. Federer loses = it doesn't count, because that's a violation of the laws of nature.

Do I have that right?

So your saying Fed just chocked the three times he lost to Nadal in the finales?

It may not count for idiot and clowns, of which we have plenty on this forum, but in terms of history, real fans, newspapers...Every title counts.

The balls are bouncing so high that the Woodies said the back courts don't have enough space behind the baseline to play from.

Todd said he would not like to face Nadal under these conditions.

Seems as though Nadal strikes terror in the hearts of players, something that Federer never could.

Haven't you heard? Federer has the best serve in the game, let's see how many times he gets broken to determine the court speed.

May I ask who Watson's and Holmes' favorite player is?

Holmes: You may indeed. It is the player who, in our opinion, has the most beautiful game, is the most creative shot maker... and whose on court demeanour we admire most.

Watson: in the case that Holmes hasn't made himself clear, we think you might admire him also...If avatars are anything to go by.

Bob Brett says these guys are serving up "superballs." No idea if that's valid or not.JMac said basically the same thing. The balls are light and fast.

Most of the (immature) posters here don't grasp the fact that the ball is on the surface for a fraction of a second. The conditions are a combination of ball and court.

I watched Monfils vs Fognini and it doesn't seem fast at all. It seems slow in fact; the center court that is.Yes, because it was damp and overcast during their match. The comments about it being faster than ever is when it's hot, sunny, and dry.

Everyone, it's still clay. The ball gets slowed down and players can play defense and get balls back that would be winners on every other surface.
