My 13yr old son plays competitive tennis at state level. He is currently using the Prince More Control DB850(Oversize) racquet and is currently looking to switch racquets. He has tried the O3 Red and says that it's better on serves and volleys, but not as good on ground strokes. He likes the O3 Tour but finds it a little bit heavy. He is a lefty and hits with a western grip.

He's also hit with LM Instict, find that it has lots of power but less control than his Prince More Control DB850.

I'm thinking of getting him to try the Babolat AeroPro Drive.

Any advice?

try some of the felxpoint radicals they are lighter with good control and power

My advice -- As tennis is a game and he is 13, let him use what he likes and try not to think in terms of "getting him" to try anything. He'll learn more and mature more fully if he explores this on his own. If he asks you, make suggestions and remind him "it's up to you."

I just turned 16 and i play with an aeropro drive. and it feels great to swing with and i think its a good racquet all around. It is a little stiff, but as long as u get the perfect tension its all good. thats just if he wanted to change that is a good recommendation. good luck findin a new racquet.

I agree with totalserve the Aeropro swings very easy with very good power and control.
The O3 Tour would be to heavy for my when i were 13 years old.
Go for the Aeropro.

If he plays at the state level, then he should pick a heavier racquet to withstand heavier shots from bigger opponents.

I'd pick the O3 Tour. It has more stationary heft and is more flexible, which is better on the arm.

I don't have anything against Babolat in general, though.

Many 13+ juniors play with racquets weighting over 12 oz and with Tourna grips weight is often 12.2 - 12.4 oz (nCode 95, Head Flexpoint Tour).
O3 Tour is really light and needs lead.
And there are some good players who canít handle 11.1 oz frame.

I use pro hurricane stings at 55 lbs tenison. I dont use overgrip. I use a non stock shock abosrber so maybe that is why it feels good for me. I have heard alot about lead tape and such to make it heavier, but i havent had any problems of yet.
