Im a 3.5 player and I hit the back hand of my life yesterday.

Normal rally in a match, had me on the run and I hit a cross court forehand, he hit it to my backhand corner and followed the shot to the net. I was running full speed and smacked the hardest/flattest backhand ive ever hit cross court for a passing shot winner. He just shook his head, smiled and said great shot. No one else was at the court to see it but there was a guy walking by with a dog and he just said, nice shot.

Well I don't say no to the 2HBH lol, but yeah I do have a 1HBH because a few years ago I injured my non dominant hand and wanted to continue to play. So I'm in.

I've been a 1HBHer since day one. Tried 2HBH but hated it. It didn't feel right then and still doesn't feel right now.

I am in. I am learning the 1hbh, even started a thread about this. I started playing recently, so never used anything apart from 1hbh. I would much rather have a semi decent 1hbh than a good 2hbh. Its just wrong and cheap.

One hander! A few times I've wonder if I shouldn't have been a 2Her since I'm only 5'9" - then I channel Homer Simpson and think "that's crazy talk!" Just got back from hitting a few hundred against the ball machine...

Switched to a one-hander in 2005, and have not looked back since! Self-rated 4.0 player.

Just about everyone where I live uses a single hander, its great. All my friends do, I only know one person who doesn't.

Thats funny because at my school, I play on the club team. Im the first person that theyve played with a 1 hander lol. I met someone off craigslist who is converting from a 2 hand to 1 hand. I guess I am helping him by playinh every week because mine is pretty soli and I can come up with some amazing shots every so often.

I have got a one hand back hand....because my coach was old school :) I am glad that things turned out that way ....

I think this will be another trend from the 'Federer effect'. People will try to emulate his one hander. But I still think academies will turn out mostly juniors with two handers.

I have a lot of friends in the Philippines. They teach the one hander almost exclusively. Which is interesting considering they aren't big people - the 2H might be a better option.

I am a one hander and cant hit with a two hander for ***. Smacking OHBH down the line winners has got to be the funnest shot in tennis.

Thanks for the comment! I still have a few things I need to work on, but the backhand can definitely hold its own. Something that helped a lot was having people rally their inside out or down the line forehand to my backhand (a drill I highly recommend).

I think we need more 1HBH videos in this thread! :)

Or it could be that some people just feel more comfortable with one hand like myself. I started playing before I started watching tennis and I just copied what my dad did.

This. When I first started playing tennis, I told my coach I was gonna learn a 1hbh, not a 2 hander. My backhand sucked for about a year, then it got really good :)

One handed backhand since the day I started (age 6).

With all due respect, I think there is already a thred/club like this here.

Anyway, yeah, I'm sure most people prefer the two hander, but I'm just much better with the 1 hander.

Count me in! I love to hit the one-handed backhand. There's not a more beautiful stroke in tennis.
