As a kid, I used to watch Golden Girls every week and during the day during the summer. I loved all the old women on that show. Blanche was just over her head thinking she could get with ANY man. A diva ahead of her time.

Terrific actress and was active up to her death.

Betty White is now the only surviving cast member of the Golden Girls. At my old job, I had a co-worker that's the son of the late Estelle Getty, so to see a Golden Girl pass away puts tears in my eyes.

I'm thinking of buying the DVD of the show. Golden Girls was hilarious. I also remember watching Mama's Family and caught a couple episodes of Maude.

I just realized Rue McClanahan was 1/2 Choctaw, my ancestral tribe.

Quite sad to see a TV icon pass away.

Thank you for being a friend.
Traveled down the road and back again.
Your heart is true.
You're a friend and a confidante.
And if you threw a party.
Inviting everyone you knew.
You would see the biggest gift would be from me.
And the card attached would say...thank you for being a friend.

No google necessary - that one was memorized during my childhood. R.I.P. Rue.

I remembered that tune by heart too.

Yeah, The Beverly Hillbillies is another theme permanently etched on the brain (and posted in the Bistro).
