Ugh...Roland Garros, thought my ears were going to bust out from that stuff.

It was like "OUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!1 1!1!!111SHIFT11!!SHIFT1" -_-

Anybody else think they were kind of loud?

first of all that's how we are trained to call lines. Secondly it has to be loud in a stadium filled with 15,000 people. Thirdly on close calls loud voices sell the calls better to the players.

Also it sounds louder on TV.

I don't mean to offend any umpires here. Not even the ones from Roland Garros, but isn't it quiet during the play (supposed to be anyways) that it will be decently loud?

I also noticed it's louder on TV. I could hear the player's breathing.

You're not offending umpires.

As an umpire with a lot of professional experience, I am letting you know that we are trained, "The closer the ball, the louder the call." It sells it to the player, and especially in a stadium that big, you need to be loud. Voices get swallowed up in stadiums like Chatrier, Ashe, etc.

In most countries it's "FAULT" on a serve and "OUT" on anything else.

Some countries are different.

France uses, "FAUT" on everything.

Italy uses "NO".
