I still feel quite bitter about the way my last girlfriend treated me. She's a lovely black widow in my book. Smiled in my face and stroked my ego and hopes while she stabbed my heart from behind. I understand know how Alanis Morisette felt singing You Oughta Know (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPcyTyilmYY&feature=fvst). She made me feel so much grief, uncertainty, frustration, and misery. If I want something to make me feel all those things, I already have tennis which does all of the above at times. Fortunately it's "addition by subtraction" as I found someone that appreciates and respects me.

That said I'm compiling a list of "kick that ex to the curb" tunes.

So far, I've got:
Should have known better (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DckYV3FQfSE) by Richard Marx
That's My Attitude (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NipZo3XNGw) by Troop
I thought it was me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AZfeAFP4Tw) by Bel Biv Devoe
It's too late (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEDbeGrYx44) by Carole King

Love this one, especially the color scheme on the second house. Reminds me of my old college frat house. :)

Just a thought: maybe you'd want to celebrate this new shining star in your life with a list dedicated to her. Granted....not as much fun I suppose -lol

Some Ax to Grind selections:

"Who'll be the Next in Line?" - Queens of the Stone Age
(nice cover that captured the 'sneer' of the original)

"Play With Fire" - The Rolling Stones
(quietly pretty yet a very intensely bitter trance-like tune; a gem imho)

"Where'd My Spring Go?" - The Kinks
(if you can find it)
'when you were loving me
you were just using me
you would employ me
you would distroy me..'

Can't believe no "I Will Surive" by Donna Summer suggestion *ducks for cover*

True, but the ladies know it when I say that these are what help us cry it out, get it over with and move on. Onward and upward. As my grandma says, the best way to get over a guy is to get under a new one (oops).

These two are great songs about leaving something behind (listen to them really loud):

(1) Rearview Mirror -- Pearl Jam. "Saw things clearer/Once you were in my rearview mirror." And "I gather speed/From you f-ing with me/Once and for all/I'm far away/I hardly believe/Finally the shades are raised."

(2) Santa Monica -- Everclear. "I am still living with your ghost/Lonely and dreaming of the west coast."

Here's an oldie--"Red Rubber Ball", by Paul Simon and Bruce Woodley. I don't think it's well known as a Paul Simon song, S & G never recorded it. Still--"now I know you're not the only starfish in the sea, if I never see you're face again it's all the same to me..."

Bob Dylan did scads of them, "It Ain't Me, Babe," "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," "(When) You Go Your Way And I Go Mine"...seems like a lot of his early stuff was in that vein. I never thought of "Positively 4th Street" as a breakup song, but I could see it that way...

Can't forget Gordon Lightfoot and "That's What You Get For Lovin' Me."

OP's got a lot of songs to listen to.
