Hi,

thinking of most popular Prestige versions (microgel/youtek) i wonder:

MP version is definetly the most popular
- i can name at least 10 or more pros from ATP top 100 who use it.

PRO
- only Wawrinka?

So my question is why do you think all use MP?

MP: 18x20 pattern + 63 siffness
PRO: 16x19 pattern + 66 siffness
As we see above differneces aren't huge..

P.S.
Anybody saw MID version in ATP? :)

Most of them use the PT57a and PT57e which aren't MG or YT MPs but instead Pro Tour 630s. Some of them (the lower ranked ones) use the TGK238.1s and 238.2s which are drilled in 18x20 and 16x19 respectively. The PT57s are very soft, stiffness is in the high 50s I believe. Don't know about the TGKs but I've heard they are a bit stiffer than the commercially available YTMPs

Yes i think that correct . I have a bunch of PT rackets , 57as and PT10s and some TGKs also,238.1 primarily and i find that the TGK is a little bit stiffer and harder in its feel comaped to the PT57a( still very very nice comfy bats) but i doubt that they are stiffer than the the commercially available YT prestiges.. .

The 238.4s are reportedly around 63 for stiffness and that number seems reasonable to me. It's less stiff than the K90 and K88. It may be that the polarized nature of pro stocks results in more flexing in the middle which makes it feel a bit more flexible than the RA number.

With pro stocks, you can get lengths that may not be available in retail sticks. You may also be able to get lighter sticks with heavier swingweights than typically found in retail sticks.

If they would sell the actual pro racquet versions ( more flexy versions) to the lowly consumer we MAY be willing to buy more of their racquets. I've lost interest in them just for that reason. Not that I'm anywhere close to their ability but I like a less stiff racquet so I end up buying used older racquets that are less stiff. If they sold the less stiff versions they receive more new racquet sales, IMO. I know all men pros probably aren't using anything close to stock versions. I just see this more with the Head racquets than any other racquet manufacturer.

At the Delray ATP, schuettler was using a prestige mid. Flipper was too.

Karlovic is currently demoing the mid, mid plus, and pro as well as the radical pro.

I think he did switch. Check out the string pattern from Queens 2010. Prestige Mid with 16x19.

Prestige Pro: Arnaud Clement, Thiemo de Bakker.

Prestige Mid: Tobias Kamke.

I saw Clement up pretty close at Newport last Wed and his frame had retail markings.....I might have a couple of close up pics on my compactflash card, will check.....couldn't see if it had a Pro Stock butt cap or not.....is he playing a retail stick?

He still played very well BTW, had Isner working pretty hard in that match.....great technique, solid.

Any info on the SW and Flex of the 237.4?

SW is what you want it to be. I would guess the flex would be 63.

> Is the 237.4 an XL version???

Pro stock racquets have a hairpin and they are usually 28 inches and can be cut down to whatever size the player wants. The model number usually doesn't indicate the length so an XL is added to indicate non-standard length.

237.1 = MG Prestige Mid (18x20)
237.2 = MG Prestige Mid (16x19)
237.3 = YT Prestige Mid (18x20)
237.4 = YT Prestige Mid (16x19)

Same mold on all of them...different stuff in them...

never proven either way...
Sone of us claim that the TGKs are different materials from the retail sticks, some of us disagree...
I have one cracked TGK260.2, I am tempted to disect it if anyone can tell me how to spot D3O in it...

What does Simon use? I know its the MP, Im usuming its a TGK of some sort. I saw a close up of the neck of his racket today in the finals, I did not see any stock specs, all I saw was little white letters indicating it was a TGK or a PT of some sort.

Last I saw there was debate whether he uses a PT630 or PT57a, supposedly in an interview he said, when asked what racquet he uses, something along the lines of "the old blue one"

Of course I could be wrong.

Depends, traditionally it's 18x20, but pro's, such as A. Murray can get it with 16x19 if they so desire.

But they are or already have phased out the pt57's for all but Murray, as far as I know.

As I was writing these posts I was thinking vsbabolat is going to make me look stupid:)

Was just what I remember reading here and there but like I said I could be wrong, I suppose should have added "and I probably am"

The only reason I differentiated between the PT 630 and pt57a was I remember someone arguing that Simone used retail PT 630's PJ'd as apposed to the pro stock version.

Oh well at least my misconceptions have been corrected and I now know better:)

I owned a 237.3 and a retail youtek prestige and the main difference was silicone in the handle and the TGK layup had the hoop more flexy.

The materials to me felt the same.

I know this because I also owned a PC600 at that time and could feel the difference.

I will also say that the sweetspot on all 3 sticks felt rather similar, with the newer youteks being a little more "brassy" to me. The PC600 had that classic graphite feel that the newer sticks do not have. Regardless, the newer sticks though provided more consistent power and a very similar recreation of the PC600.
