My girlfriend will probably switch to a 98" frame from the 102" she is using now. One of the racquets being considered is the Rd ti-80. I have two questions about the racquet. Has anyone here seen both color schemes to be able to give a comparison? In the past she has seen the older ti-80 and liked the subtle classic styling and colors. The other question is, does it actually have a half ounce variance between the 3/8 and 1/2 grip size and if so how do you feel it affected the feel of the swing?

i think the older ti-80 looks much better than the 05 version.

IMO both are very sharp but very different, the red on the 2005 is very bright and loud. I probably prefer the metallic copper paintjob slightly. There is a big difference in weight and playability between the 3/8 and 1/2 models and the weight difference can actually be greater than 1/2 an ounce due to the variances within the UL and SL designations. On the inside of the throat of the 2005 version, it says the UL weighs between 300-319 grams and SL are 320 - 339. (FYI my 5/8 weighs almost the full 339 grams unstrung.) In general the ULs swings light and easy. Although the SLs do feel lighter than their static weight due to the HL balance, it is more of a club and a true player's racket.
