View Full Version : Fake Head Youtek Speed MP

Hello I posted a previous thread but only 1 reply.
I purchased a Head Youtek Speed MP 18X20 on the bay costing me £67 which is about $100 or so.
I am curious as retail its around £144.99 in UK everywhere and I got it for half the price, is there anyway at all I can see or do to check that its not a fake.
I taken it down to Nottingham Tennis Centre and got the shop owner in there who has been stringing rackets for the past 15 years or so and he compared it with the 16x19 racket speed pro though and looked identical apart from the obvious string pattern and lengh being .2 inches longer.
Is there anyony here that can tell me any other thing or whatever to check I got a fake?
PS, I have had a hit with it and it plays really well without shock absorber it makes a really pinging noise is that normal? louder than other rackets like Pro Staff Aeropro and Ncode that I have

Im really sorry to deviate from the thread like this but after having checked apparently im unable to pm you. Where are you based in notts. Ive just graduated from the uni and am looking to get a flat and relocate here permanently. Ive always been able to hit on the courts on campus and probably will continue to do so but dont have any hitting partners anymore. Are u a member of the tennis centre?

I do live in Nottingham and I play at tennis centre the odd occasion, im currently with Mapperly Park Tennis Club. It's a good friendly social club with a variety of different players.

There were a LOT of fake Speed MP in the UK a few weeks back, most of them being sold from 2 sellers based in Birmingham & Wales.. When asked if the rackets were genuine they were candid enough to tell me to shop elsewhere.

If you have doubts don't buy it.

I took the grip off the racket and I have never seen a handle like this before, it has like a black piece that seems to be sellotaped on it?
Here are the pics
Apart from this if this is normal I can say without a doubt this racket is legit but that handle looks well dodgy

This is how the grip palats look with the grip removed. Your guy at Nottingham tennis centre would spot a fake a mile off.... If it weighs close to the stated spec its likely to be genuine. Relax and enjoy it !!

I have the 16x19, and yous looks real to me. The pics are fuzzy, but, all of the detail looks identical to mine as best I can tell. Great stick, btw.
