Can someone tell me what the current prices are for the Apple iphone 3GS 16gb in the US? (unlocked)
Here they are still very expensive.

The 3G dropped by about $150 outright here in Aus when the 3GS was released, put another way, by around 20%.

I don't know that you can buy the iPhone 'outright' in the US like you can in much of the rest of the world.

One line of thinking would be that the 3GS might drop a little more than that due to the 4G being a bigger leap forward, but that said, I'm not sure I see much of a drop. IMHO the 3GS is still a better device than most of the full-price competitors that will fight the 4G, so I don't think they'll need to drop the price by a lot to sell remaining stock.

^^ Doesn't seem like it. Bumpers are included for free until (I think from what I read) the end of September. Guess they're planning on fixing it by then?

Side-note: I wonder if ultimately the 'fixed' iPhone 4 that we all expect to eventually come - the 4.1? - will be worth more second-hand?

Unlocked 3GS is about $250-300 used/unlocked. They can be had for cheaper.

DD was talking used, that said you'd still pay $500+ for a 3GS here in aus.

They've just released the 8GB 3GS here in aus for $719 new, where the 16GB 4G is $859 (all dollars aussie - about .9 conversion to US).

Is that new with no contract? Those prices are ridiculous!

Yes, and yes.

Try paying US $8 ++ for a can of balls. Welcome to living in a place that's just far enough away to make gouging prices easy!

Seriously... You should find someone in the US that will ship you used 3GS phones and each take a $100 profit, and you'd have plenty of demand, I bet!

Cheap home based business :)

lol indeed. I know someone that imports stuff from elsewhere and does quite well, even importing at their retail :). (I don't want to spoil his niche, that said it's not tennis).

Where are you seeing them for the prices you mentioned? Can't see them on the usual auction site for that money....

Generally craigslist, or internet forums. **** for consumer electronics is largely overpriced compared to what you CAN get these things for. This is mostly due to the international market, people like to surf/buy from the US **** :)
