What racquet of recent times(2000-2005) will be remembered for greatness?

Rackets that don't deserve it.

*cough* PD+ *cough*

ncode probably, LM, FP, intelligence, 03, pretty much decent frames from each series and a bunch of overrated crap items.

I am not a big babolat fan or anything. personally i use fischers and i can't switch to anything else. but the PD's have been something like a racket revolution.

Let's see.

Prince POGs (78-)
Wilson Prostaff6.0s (84-)
Head Prestige Classics (late 80s???)
Volkl V1s (94-)

What racquet can join this league...?
Very tough. Especially now the companies are discontinuing racquets too quickly (1-3 years...) so they just don't have chance to get distributed and get used to. I don't play Yonex but Yonex RDX500s seem quite well accepted for example. But would they last long enough, at least 10 years? I don't think so.

I doubt that any will. There is just too much new technology coming out that kicks the current ones to the curb. The simple racquets (POG, PS 6.0) are the only ones that I think can stand the test of time.

pure drive looks like its' headed for the status of the POG & pro-staff 85. babolat reminnds me alot of what prince was like in the late 70's & early 80's its' captured the attention of the pros' & rec. players.

Definitely the RDX-500; I think Yonex even made a conscious decision to blend the paintjobs of the RD-7 and the SRD-Tour, both of which also have big cult followings, into designing the RDX.

The PD (+or standard although I think the standard is better) but only because of total market saturation, sponsorship of Roddick and other companies changing their line-up constantly.
Still, Babolat deserve something for being able to convince so many people that the PD is anything more than a good, solid, honest frame.

That's not a knock on the PD which is a good, solid, honest frame (really all you should need) but, despite the hype, it isn't any better than offers from the other firms. Of course, neither are the POG, Prestige (old style) or PS85. They're just good, solid frames that don't cause any real surprises and deliver a fine response. Again, do you really need anything else?

RDX500 Mid, Diablo Mid & Maybe LM Prestige to.

RDX500 Mid, Diablo Mid & Maybe LM Prestige to.
The Diablo mid???? Are you kidding? The diablos are practically on the clearance bin at some tennis shops. diablos really did not make a big impact as the PD.

Love it or hate, the PD is certainly on its way to classic status as what the POG, PS 85, RD-7 and PC600 before it.

The PD is used by so many, no denying that, it is still made and still going after five years of its introduction.

So IMHO, the PD is by far the bigger contendor for the next Classic racket over the other rackets mentioned in here so far.

Of course the other advantage the PD has is that the players we see swinging it do actually use it. The other classics mentioned (assume the POG is the OS version) all had great players connected to them. Frames like the LM Prestige and nCode Tour90 don't have any top players using them.

Perhaps the next great racquet, the one that epitomises this decade will be..... the paintjob. LOL

I agree about the PS Tour 90, just an awesome racquet and will be much sought after in the future. It's obvious that Wilson is too stupid to make a PS 6.0 90 (no hypercarbon, no nCode), now THAT would be an instant Classic.

IMHO: LM Prestiges, RDX 500mid, Volkl Tour 10 series. I also think, and hope, that Vantage frames get some recognition in the long run.

The Diablo Mid is a superior replacement to the POG... I believe it will eventually become a classic of the modern game.

LM Prestige for being a solid stick, the PD for all the kids using it that mature and will continue to use it in the future. I think when the FP LM Prestige come out it might hurt the LM Prestige again.

Oh c'mon. How can the flexpoint be already be considered a classic when it barely just introduced? It hasn't even been a year.

The PD is a better choice.

RDX 500 and Pure Drive will.

I don't think that lm prestige will tough. When they introduce flexpoint prestige later this year no one will remember it anymore.

Fischer pro #1. Almost 10 years in the making and still selling hot.

I'm going to have to agree with BLiND that the Diablo Mid a superior replacement for the POG; I think the problem is that not many people are giving it a chance and probably go in thinking that it won't be good.

Lakoste

I'd say that RDX's simple frame could still be a awsome racquets down the line since, it diesnt have too much technology it in to go out of style.
