Hey guys,

I'm currently playing with X-1 in the mains, and BC in the crosses, both 16g, and I absolutely love it. However, the BC is cutting through the X-1 like crazy and it's breaking far too quickly and as a starving student, this is not economically feasible for me.

Is there another combo that would play similarly without so much breakage?

Tension recommendations welcome too :)

Thanks!

Thats because Black Code isn't a round string. I would suggest Hyperion.
Very similar and rounded and soft. I also use a multi mains / copoly cross
and my last one lasted 4 weeks.

4 weeks is pretty solid.

Would tension changes make a difference?

I 2nd Hyperion as a cross string. If you're set on using a co-poly in the crosses, then Hyperion or WeissCannon Silverstring are your best bets as they are 2 of the best tension holding polys out there.

It ain't broke figuratively, but physically, indeed it is. And I am too poor for strings to be breaking on me so often :).
