For suspense, Shutter Island. For sanctimony, Blood Diamond. Neither is great, but I'd probably go with Blood Diamond.

I have to admit that I am surprised you have seen either, let alone both of them.

As a Scorcese fan and psychiatrist, had to see Shutter Island. Blood Diamond was my wife's idea, but Jennifer Connelly is always easy to look at. (Check her out in "Little Children," a really good film, and directed by the guy who played the pianist in "Eyes Wide Shut." She's a few pounds heavier in that film and puts it to good use.)

Shutter Island is just flat out spooky. One of the scariest films I've seen recently.

DiCaprio is becoming a master of playing the paranoid personality. He is a bit over the top, but the comic effect is welcome when you are frightened out of your wits!

Shutter Island = New Form of A Beautiful Mind.
Blood Diamond = National Geographic Documentary in Movie Form.

I choose Shutter Island.

All right, you get a pass this time.

But watch the "junk food", OK.

Blood Diamond.

Shutter Island was WAY too predictable.

Neither one will stand out in the annals of filmmaking, but I'd go with Blood Diamond and spend the time looking at Jennifer Connoly

Blood Diamond, hands down. One of my favorite movies.

Shutter Island was....interesting. At times it was hard to pay attention, could be kinda slow. It was in no way a bad movie, but I just really couldn't get really into it.

Shutter Island was intense beginning to end. Blood Diamond was a great movie. Both of them have superb performances from DiCaprio, I still like The Departed better than anything, except maybe Inception.

BD, as others mentioned, semi-documentary, Jenn Connelly...

I stopped watching SI midway, once I'd confirmed the plot from the opening scene. The giveaway at the beginning was his refusal to turn in his sidearm, the first hint of confirmation was the spooky looking lady, the confirmation was "RUN!!!". Boring... I should've stopped at the spooky looking lady and saved myself 1 hr.

imo, DC's best film was This Boy's Life.

"Blood Diamond" for sure. I was very disappointed with "Shutter Island".
