Honestly, given all the crap the sky waiters/ waitresses have to take from drunks and idiots, I am surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen more often.

This would make for a very memorable flight, indeed (at least they were on the ground at the time he lost it.):

A MySpace page appearing to belong to Mr. Slater indicates that he has been a flight attendant since 1990.That's some solid journalism right there.

Yeah this guy went overboard *rimshot* in his response to the situation but that passenger is a lo-life, abusive piece of garbage who should've been arrested. And heaven help her should her i.d. be released given the support this still-in-custody "criminal" has received thus far. And I'm kind of surprised other passengers didn't tell this mouthy shrew to put a sock in it and sit down.

One has to conclude he had been thinking about quitting for some time and this final incident was the one that put him over the edge.

Sort of a drama queen, but I like the fact he copped a beer on the way out and that he used the emergency slide to exit the plane. A grand exit if ever there was one. The people on the plane must have been like WTF?

I wonder if the passengers had to wait hours to get off the plane or if they were given the option to take the slide. I would have taken the slide for sure. Whoopee!!!!!!!:)

Both characters in this story need a solid spanking. What's up with people who can't/won't follow simple instructions from the F/A's? If she's in such a hurry, perhaps she can be pushed out of the plane the moment the wheels hit the runway, before thrust reversers are deployed.

F/A Slater shouldn't have to put up with passengers like this but it is part of his job. Obviously, he overreacted. He should be forced to spend the night with a female before being demoted to steward on a cruise ship.

He was not only fired but also arrested, not a great combination, good job dork.

I know he quit but the company will consider it a termination because he left the same day. Now he can spend 5 years in prison.

Story keeps getting better. When the cops came to arrest him he was busy having sexy time with his boyfriend. Yes, he's gay. *shocker*

In an interview he said that he wants to go back to pursuing his movie career full-time:

Well, I have to wonder if this wasn't a giant publicity stunt then. I posted this thread when the story first broke because I thought it was an odd/humorous story. Since then, this story has received an incredible amount of coverage and this guy is now world famous. Crazy like a fox, perhaps?

Once he gets out of jail, he will end up doing something in show biz, trading on his notoriety as that crazy flight attendant guy.

I was amused at reading this response to the movie career post. Then I recalled the author was a vanguard who thought it necessary to campaign for the dismantling of the Rants &Raves sub-forum during its final weeks - and it all started to make sense.:)

If a single three paragraph email can be considered a campaign, then guilty as charged. :)

The term "going postal" insinuated its way into the language after a few berserk postal workers shot up their place of work on separate occasions, I imagine "going Blue" or "going Jet Blue" will come to mean quitting your job in the most extravagantly satisfying way possible.

Felony? seriously? that's stupid Well if arguing with a flight attendant is some sort of punishable crime then surely there is something in the books against what he did.
