I recently switched to a Radical MP from using Wilson for years. I like it and now see some great deals on the MG Exreme MP. I want to know how different in playability is the Radical from the Extreme? I've seen the specs so if I read them right the stiffness of the Extreme is 68 and 6 points headlight. The Radical is hardly anything headlight, I think 2 points and the stiffness is 58. So there are some major differences. Oh the Radical is 98 Sq Inch and the Extreme is 100 Sq Inch. The weight of the two are almost identical so that should not be a big deal.
My question to you is how different are they in terms of playability? I can't demo an Extreme so I wonder how they feel and play differently. Reason I ask is even though the specs may differ in some ways the weight is the same and head size is close.
Can any of you give me some input on this?
Thank You,
James

Well, I have played with both so I can help you out. The Extreme plays A LOT stiffer than the Radical. Spin production is similar to the APDC, and is closer to the Pure Drive in terms of power. The Radical is unique, however. It is soft, and low powered, yet relatively light, and easily customizeable...

The Extreme is Head's answer to Babolat - lots of power, lots of spin, a wee bit more feel than the Babs stick but not much IMO - but never caught them in popularity (in these days, who could). The Radical is well, I'm not gonna tell you because every tennis player should try the Radical at least once.

I played the MG Extreme MP for a year, I completely agree that it plays like a APD, TONS of spin potential, good but not great control(i felt APD had touch more control) and PLENTY of power. If u have developed strokes I dont suggest it, too much power for the level of control. Also the thick beam makes volleys and slices much much more difficult.

Thanks everyone for your input on this subject. You all answered my question very well. Now I have an idea of the potential of the MG Extreme MP. I can say that it sounds like the Radical and Extreme are almost polar opposites. Maybe good to have two racquets so different so I can use them in different situations.

I just picked up a Head MicroGel Extreme for pretty cheap. Even though I love the Radical for it's low power and control and comfortable feel I was intrigued by the Extreme so I bought it since it was inexpensive. Normally now I won't buy unless I demo but this was a no demo situation so I went for it. Thanks all you here for helping me with this question. If I don't like it I can sell it to a friend or sell it somewhere else. Now I am a Head racquet player not a WilsonPlayer. I can't play until Monday so I won't know much until then.

Add weight to the radical- it is better.

maro, so far I have been very happy with the Radical. I think the MG Radical is a very popular racquet and will remain popular for years even if it was replaced by the Youtek. I just bought the Extreme because it was ultra inexpensive so I thought it might be fun to have but if you are right I'll probably be using the Radical as my main racquet and the Extreme as a backup if I break the strings in the Radical. Monday or Tuesday I will play tennis and see how I like it.

I played with the MG Radical MP stock, and it did nothing for my 1hbh. Not HL enough, and not particularly stable when returning heavy serves.
Also the racket is abit on the light side, if you want to hit big first serves...Of course you could lead it up, but I would much rather play with a prestige in that case.
