I started stringing my own racquets about a year ago, on a Gamma 5003 w/ 6-Point SC Mount Machine. When I first started I basically 'learned through discovery.' Big mistake. I cut off the strings that were at the end of the tension calibrater. Opppps. What do I do? Is there any fix at all, or should I just buy a new one?

If I understand you correctly then no, just get another scrap of string (kevlar ideally but anything will do) and loop it around the hook on the calibrator.

No harm done (if I understand you right)

^^ Like Ash said no harm at all. If you do not have Kevlar just use the what you do have. Gamma puts a syn gut or nylon on the tension calibrator.

Is there any specific knot that I have to tie, and if so, could one of you guys post a picture of what it looks like? Because if I remember correctly, when I cut out the string, it was in this odd knot.

I just made a loop and tied a half hitch with the two ends.

Just make sure the knot won't slip and/or come untied under tension. Kevlar is your friend.

Excuse my dumbness, but do I tie the knot on the end that pulls or the end that is in-place?

depending on the calibrator you may need string at both ends. some have a metal hook that may work for you, but i forgo the hooks altogether.

kevlar works great, thanks again Irvin!
