I was playing with my cousin today, and i was missing every shot, i couldnt get the ball to spin, and nothing would work, so he told me to bend my knees before swingin the racquet, he said itd help, so i tried it, and i must say, ive never played like today every since i started playing tennis, it helped my game by at least 50%, is this a common thing to do? I watched other players today, and none of them do it

Your knee is the fundamental balance and power of every stroke. Of course you bend your knee with every stroke.

Haha, akj27, to pretty much explain it, everything has a foundation. Most of the power generated from the shots aren't in the arm strength but instead from the legs and core of the body, as well as timing.
It is really common; most players should be bending their knees to hit shots at least a little and even more so for the lower ones to get under them.

Also if you bend your knees and spring up as your hitting you should generate more topspin
