Hey, I've been wondering what's "recommended" in terms of what to do to recover between matches, like in a tournament and the next match is tomorrow, especially after grueling five-setters.

I don't know what's officially "recommended", but I would imagine eating extremely well and having a great night's sleep would help. I also imagine a good sexual release before sleeping would also aid in recuperation.

physically if you are sore for next match.. you at least have an alibi and probally will play better sometimes.. Also, i would massage the areas in your body you are having some problems with and drink lots of fluids as cramping happens a lot in tennis. Eat small meal before your match (stay away from red meat sits your stomach.. not good feeling running around). But mostly i would say is to stay mentally focused.. if your body is tired it really robs your mind . at least for me.

i heard soaking in an ice bath speeds recovery. sounds painful.

Of course rest, good food, stretching, and Gatorade really does help me.

Frankly, you are either fit or you're not. Obviously stretching, hydrating, and eating well will go a long way. In severe instances a massage, ice bath. or other therapuetic means might be necessary. If you're not in shape for the pounding that long matches put on your body it really won't matter.

Where are you playing 5-setters? Was this thread started by Nole?
