View Full Version : Can Combo League cause bump up?

If I have a computer rating and only play in a not nationally sanctioned fall combo league, could I get a end of year bump? My captain says no, but I haven't found anything related. Thanks!

USTA Combo leagues are not used to generate year end NTRP ratings.

Unless you play exclusively mixed doubles.

Ok, thanks...had trouble finding it in rules anywhere...but people on here seem to know there stuff, so that's good to know.

Yeah, I probably wasn't as clear as I should have been with my post.

If you play in a standard USTA adult league (meaning 3.5 Mens, 4.0 Womens, etc.) your performance in that league will be the sole determining factor in your Year End NTRP rating if you play in either two or three matches (or more). I can't recall the exact number of matches required off the top of my head, but it is either two or three. I will also qualify this by saying I believe some Sections will also factor in tournament results -- my section (Southern) does not. This is what is called a "C" year end rating (meaning computer rated).

If you do not play in a regular USTA adult league, but do play Mixed Doubles, you will receive a year end rating based solely on your performance in Mixed. This is what is called a "M" rating.

If you play in USTA Combo league (7.5 Mens, 6.5 Womens, etc.), your performance in these leagues will not generate a computer rating or affect your rating from either of these other two leagues.

Hope this helps.

Yes I understand. I am talking about non-mixed combo league so your original response is correct. The situation I'm referring to is a regular adult computer rating for EOY 2009...then not playing any league (or tourney) matches until non-mixed combo season 2010. There should be no reason to expect any ratings changes: should be same 2010 EOY Computer Rated as the 2009 one as I understand it.
