I was using an older ( about 10 years)Gamma stringing machine with a rotary tensioner. The moveable part of the gripper on the tensioner was worn and allowed the string to get catch behind it and get damaged. I ordered a new gripper for about 35 dollars and noticed that the replacement has several design improvements to keep this from happening. The rotary gripper now has a groove and some posts to keep the string from slipping behind the moving piece. If your machine does not have these improvements I would recommend getting the new version.
