I have tried 1.25 PLII in my Pure Drives a few times, and although I like the soft poly hit, the strings move like crazy after about 5 hours and die soon after. I used to use it in a softer racquet (Pure Storm) and it seemed to move less there. So I'm looking for a replacement now, considering Kirschbaum Competition 1.25, WC Scorpion 1.22 and Black Magic 1.23. Still looking for a soft hit but with less string movement and longer playability. Should I try any other strings that would fit the bill? Thanks.

imo all polys lose their "magic" after 5 hrs...try some SpinX, textured softer poly by Genesis similiar to Revenge, never tried BM though

Nothing unusual there. The PDGT has a huge hoop size, open pattern - bit of a noobie spec really - which is just going to stress any mains. The strings will die very quickly no matter what poly you put in there.

I discovered the cure for string movement is a smooth poly cross. I'm using Gosen Polylon ice and it's awesome.

I would say similar to PLII but with less movement and better durability would be SPPP. Hyperion is probably your best option then Pure and original (orange). The others that I would recommend is WC Silver String and Topspin Cyber Blue.

Competition won't last any longer and I'm still on the fence about Scorpion.

Another vote for SP Hyperion, it is even softer than PL II and tension maintenance is much better

I have to say that I've played with PLII for the last few years, and it hasn't been my experience that the strings 'move about all over the place' after a few hours. In fact, no poly that I've played with 'moves about all over the place' within a few hours.

Are you sure you tied off the strings properly?

Anybody ???I tried PL!! 1.15 and loved it--best feel of any poly I've tried.

It didn't start moving until 10 hours for me--still felt good.

I agree with the OP on the assessment.
I would suggest to try the following -- Black magic 17/18g, Sonic Pro 17g Black. They are both soft, do not move at all and last longer, considerably longer. Black Magic is softer than the Sonic Pro.
The SpinX is a great string as someone mentioned above, but is textured and had too much spin for my liking...

Pro Supex Big Ace seems to have gone out of fashion, but I still like it.

I strung my pure storm gt with the pro line two 1.25g at 56lbs and it does not move at all...try a higher tension........anyway I don't really like the pro line 2 much.

I tried three gauges of Pro Line II (1.15, 1.20, 1.25) although each one in different racquet, so i can comment only on tension maintenance.
1.20 and 1.25 had better tension maintenance than 1.15 guge which was too lively and tension drop was most noticable.

I thought PLII is overated and overpriced.

How does Sonic Pro compare to PL2 in terms of power?
