Ewwwww. >__<

I know a guy that's been playing everyday since he was four, he has some of that, too. Not as bad as the picture though.

I guess I'm lucky, I don't have any of that. Is a lot of it from being on the toes of your feet constantly, leaning forward? I certainly don't want that to happen.

I think the main cause could be not properly fitting into the shoes. But, yes this pic is an example of extreme tennis or runner's toes. It looks like four toes are effected but the middle one.

yours are worse than mine:). i've only gotten the 2 little toes crammed up and purple. However my big toe's nail has split halfway down going across. I'd imagine you have lots of callouses on those toes.

not sure why this is under tennis tips/instruction instead of health...but it looks like the guy has hammer toes as well

Yeah, the idea of getting bigger shoes might be good. Thinner socks and drying out your shoes might be something you might also want to consider.

I play a lot of tennis --- three to four hours a day and although I jamb a toe now and then and actually broke one last year, what I see in the picture doesn't look normal unless your going around kicking walls. Because of the amount I play, I get new shoes every three to four months max. However, if your foot hurts I really think the size or width might be a big factor. I've been using the New Balance 1001, double E and like them. New Balance makes, in my opinion, a wider toe box than most of the others - think I've tried them all but what fits one probably doesn't work for another.

Can those toes get infected and get gang green?

I wouldn't think gangrene would be a problem but it sure must be uncomfortable.
