Surfing the internet over the last couple of years I came to the conclussion that MTF and Tennis Warehouse are the biggest tennis forums on the net, but which is better?

TW because we can discuss WTA here also. WTA forever.

TW because the trolls are better...and the topics are more mature and smarter than MTF. Plus MTF forum design...is hideous while TW is pretty simple and nice.

MTF has ads...which are very annoying....people seem bland!

Tennis Warehouse is defintly more better and also can really get good help in tennis from here. Understand racquets, strings and leading here! MTF...doesn't compare!

Both have it's own advantages but overall less trolling and more wta makes it somewhat better here.

There's less misogyny on this board, and less people here are arrogant enough to think they know everything.

MTF is an eyesore, i tried it for 2 days and left.

But then they have RITG (is he still there or banned by now?) which is a huge plus.;)

TW wins it 7-5, 3-6,2-6, 6-2, 129874892-129874890.

officially greatest match of all time.

but yeah TW, because some of these topics we come across are gems :)

I have never posted on MTF but I have read many of the posts on different topics and I must say, there are some stupid people over there! There are some very rude comments as well and yes, the misogyny is epic over there!

Jeeze, just took a minute to look at the forums. There's way too many fanboys (mostly rafa fanboys) running around and spounting the same bull that's been argued ad nauseam on these forums that noone bothers using here anymore, lest they face a torrent of lolcat and fail pics.

MTF is less bitter, and has a sense of humor and bans those posters who connect steroids with a clean player.

I think there is a decent amount of overlap between the 2 forums in terms of posters but there seems to be a bit less trolling here and probably more constructive moderation from what I have seen on both.

While Federer and Nadal dominate discussions on any tennis board, over there it is more bitter in the way it is carried out.

MTF users dont like TTW users because they are threatened by our significantly longer phalluses. That is why there is such a high concentration of angry, bitter, and obnoxious posters on that website.

Never really spent any time on MTF. Tennis Warehouse is dying though, the traffic on this forum has gone down massively, as has the quality of poster. Most posters on this forum nowadays can hardly speak English. It's sad.

The Federer fans sink don't sink as low at MTF, because over there they get banned for racial abuse and fictional steroid allegations against clean players. That's the way it should be on all boards.

Sad is the fact that someone would post such absurdity! since when it is necessary to speak fluent English to be a good member of this forum?

Aside from being an ignorant statement it is also incorrect. Most people here speak English just fine. You don't exactly have to use big words to get your point across.

MTF is good because they have individual player forums, so it's easy to get news for any player. Both MTF and TW's general sections are Fedal fests, but MTFs is different. It's like an all out Fedal troll party, but everyone is invited.

There seems to be more chatter over there, and minor tournaments are better covered.

TWs amateur tennis section is really well used, much more than MTF.

I checked it out once to see what all the fuss was about.

It was messy, hard on the eyes and just ugly. Also has a dark look. I absolutely hate their cookies, whatever they use, it annoys me by targeting ads to my recent search!!! Wonder if they're in cahoots with google?

MTF is now running these pop-up ads over there some. I just looked and it caused my browser to hiccup every time a page loaded (running firefox here). Annoying! In general TW is better, but I think because MTF allows more signature editing, you can get to know the other members a bit more. I agree that some of the signatures are WAY too cluttered - it seems like we need something in between.

No signature has to be a whole paragraph detailing every single aspect of their favorite player in addition to their racket specs, overkill to the max

I prefer TW style of forums. No ads, pages load much fast then MTF. But I use MTF because TW does not have a Gambling forum, thats the bonus over there.
But TW has college and Junior forum, so I guess it all equals out.

As far as the perceived lack of proper english at MTF, many more internationals over there, and they also seem more knowledgeable about the games. IMO

I'm about 50% each way :P

TW without a doubt ! The format of this site is definitely far more simple and user friendly. I never posted at MTF but was a frequent visitor until some time ago. Those ads and signatures are quite annoying and the overall forum quite "meh" compared to TW which is a lot more cooler.
Though the trolling and **** wars exist at both places, there is a lot more humor at TW. The good-natured counter-trolling, epic levels of hilarity and entertainment (there is atleast one post a day that has me LMAO), the lolcats, the GOAT threads (Cincinnati -the Real Slam, Federer photoshopped) make TW the best :)

I suspect that about 20 - 30% of the forum members here also post at MTF, like I do. The forums are very different and have very different flavors, so to speak. This forum is associated with an existing business and possesses a certain amount of decorum because of that association.

MTF has always been a very international, freestanding forum and it definitely has that feel (including all those annoying ads). It has more traffic than TW, and it used to have A LOT more registered users (TW is catching up now). I appreciate MTF for the individual player forums, the country forums, and especially the individual tournament threads. I don't post there nearly as much as I used to, I can't keep up with all the clicques and the arguments and the trolls are just too starved for attention.

I kept the old light blue layout in my profile, so I don't see that horrible new gray and black mess or the 'red clay' version that some people use. Both were way too hard on the eyes. If the signatures keep getting larger and more obnoxious, I'll turn off the ability to see them. The paid users can put graphics in their signatures and that is immensely annoying.

Which section is it in? Would be funny to read what they say. Most MTF'ers really hate TW.

MTF was really good 5+ years ago. Plenty of civil and insightful discussion. Now it is only trolls. Still a nice place to pick up little tennis tidbits I wouldn't see anywhere else.

I don't have an account at MTF and haven't visited in a long time. However, I don't expect that there is a huge difference between TW and MTF in terms of quality of posts.

Here at TW, just like most large forums, there are a few idiots who destroy the experience with their random ********, flame-baiting and general troll behavior. The equipment and miscellaneous forums at TW are quieter and, in general, provide much more enjoyment and fun. The Pro-Player Discussion and Pro-Match Results are almost entirely trash.

I think my wife and I and another couple are going to head down this year we decided.

By the way, what is wrong with you lower back? Have you tried squatting 1,000lbs. I've heard that cures about anything.

I only eat mary jane brownies. ;)

Seriously, I think that sounds like a great trip for you, your wife and friends. try to be there on Thursday, Friday, or Monday, not just Saturday and Sunday. The weekends can be horribly crowded and give the wrong impression of just how good IW can be. Please submit your sunscreen info to me for approval before leaving on your trip.

I'm not sure what is wrong with my back, it might be thinning discs. I bought seven power bracelets and wove them into a lower back brace, but it didn't work for some reason. Are they cancelling each other out?

^^ Sounds like "tennis elbow-back" to me. Common among players that consistently serve in the 130's. No worries on the sunscreen. I know they will only give me cancer so I never use any.

I went down a few years ago and it is a great tournament for the fans I think. Get to see both men and women and get nice and close on the outside courts. Not too interested in seeing too many stadium matches. We are planning on staying from Friday-Friday, so we will get to see some really good stuff.

Oh I ENVY you that trip. I would recommend a dinner at the Japanese restaurant at the Palm Desert Marriott (teppan yaki, forgot the name), but only if you take the hotel boat from the lobby to the restaurant. The food's okay too I guess.

Speak of the devil, my wife and I stayed at the Marriott Palm Desert 2 last time we went there. Funny thing. I had booked a room in a dump hotel. A few days before we headed down, some guy sold his week there on Fbay. We paid $700 for the week.

This time we are staying at the Desert Breezes condos, which I guess are within a mile or less of the tennis grounds. Will be great to be able to walk back to the condo and eat, etc. and not have to stay there all day.

We didn't go to the teppen yaki (or whatever) but I'm sure I could find it. Any other recommendations of places to eat or things to do? Thing is, only 2 of us are going to watch tennis (me and the other woman). The other two are going to do "whatever". We are basically "spouse swapping" for that week. Should be a blast.

I don't know the area that well, but I have been on the Palm Springs Aerial Tram and it is worth it, especially on a clear day (take warm clothes, the top is probably still very cold in March) and the Cabazon outlets are worth a visit. There is a divey taco/burrito stand on the road between the freeway offramp and the outlet, looks nondescript but the food is pretty damn good.

Indian Casinos and gambling? There are a few in that area, including the big one right next to the Cabazon outlets. Might be a good concert down there somewhere that week.

I went to cabazon outlets this past august. Waited in the car for an hour in 110 degree weather. Not fun when you have to wait for someone shopping when you are sweltering waiting for them. Stayed in holiday inn express in cathral city.

MTF is much more focussed on pro tennis.

Pro tennis only has a minor interest to me. TW has a much wider range of posts and topics.

Equipment, strings, shoes/clothes, adult tennis leagues/tourneys, instruction, travel, health are all interesting to me so I don't spend much time on the other forum.
