The glide sideways; the perfectly still head; the racquet acceleration.

That racquet head speed is scary

I agree. I don't think many people actually realise - even people who play tennis - just how fast he swings. He's so loose in the shoulders.

Yeah, that's true. One of the fastest racquet head speeds on tour for sure. It's just that the finesse and the easy-looking way he plays gives the wrong impression that he is not as good an athele or doesn't put as much energy as others.

He's an elite athlete, an only those who are really intimate with sports are going to notice this right away.

It's actually much harder to make something look a lot easier than it is(in athletics).

Federer just like many of the other elite athletes make what seems to be nearly impossible look so easy to the rest of the world.

Well said, Fate! It's probably the fastest! Another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdcRi-PUdsg&playnext=1&list=PL25A5E23E3BA5AF40&index=6 Forehands around 30 sec...

his footwork is just unbelievable. Its just so fluid and effortless, the way he gets round the ball to hit those FHs. In some ways, I actually prefer to watch the pros practice, because you get a closer look at their shots, and you can kind of appreciate their games more, especially someone like fed.

Dude, I have seen club players hit like that with utter ease. You need to get out more.

That's what I've always did when the Montreal Masters is held here. I spent more times around the practice courts than during matches...
