Sloan’s relationship with point guard Deron Williams had grown progressively worse over the course of the season, league sources said, and the coach had tired of dealing with the team’s best player. The frustration escalated on Wednesday night when Sloan and Williams clashed in the locker room at halftime.

“He decided right there in halftime that he was done,” a league source told Yahoo! Sports. “He felt like ownership was listening more to Williams than they were to him anymore. He was done.”

One source said Sloan had become tired of Williams “blaming everything on everyone else.”

Sloan and his longtime assistant, Phil Johnson, resigned together on Thursday. The Jazz planned a 5 p.m. ET news conference to officially make the announcement.

Did Williams also blame the fact that Derrick Rose took him to school last night on Jerry Sloan?

Deron Williams - hall of fame coach killer - that is going to help his reputation.

From Jerry Sloan to Ty Corbin - ouch.

From Jerry Sloan to Deron Williams (the actual coach) to the coaching merry-go-round (after losing seasons and free agency for Williams in 2012).

Utah Jazz: Very soon to be cellar dwellers.

Some interesting comments on the chat boards:

Maybe The Jazz can make a play for Byron Scott. He's from Ogden, Utah. He's got the Cav's moving in the right direction:

The only direction the Cavs are moving right now is straight down. Say what you want, but they're a joke right now. Seeing as how they're injury plagued too, they're going nowhere in the next few years. Nowhere.

I'm ok with it. Hopefully my Grizzlies can make the right decisions (i.e. resign Z-Bo) and take the Jazz' place in the Western Conference playoffs.
