I've been out of it for the last 6 months or so (newborn), so I haven't kept up with what was going on on tour. I just read a story on ESPN talking about Querrey's "disastrous racket-stringing experiment" and why that might be a cause for his terrible record in 2011. What has he tried/is he trying with his strings?
Thanks

He listened to Melanie Oudin on how to string a racquet.

Wonder if he's referring to his move from a gut/poly hybrid to all RPM Blast...

querrey's game does not fit well with a gut/poly hybrid imo

I watched him play close up in San Jose. He crushes his serve and FH, but his lack of movement and tightening up on big points really hurts him. He double-faulted on a huge point in the first set tiebreak.

I was under the impression that he went on a huge tear last summer after switching to the rpm...

i heard the commentators talking about querrey switching to a hybrid during the australian open... he said he didn't get used to it and thats why he lost first round

I too read a story that in the off season he went to a gut/poly hybrid which he soon abandoned.
I also believe, by watching his AO play, his footwork was so sluggish! Looked like he was playing in sand.

he didn't put in the training work required in the short off season.
IIRC in the past he used a poly/gut hybrid and used Pacific gut. At some point in the last 18 months he switched to full poly, full alu I believe and t worked quite well for him.
In Feb of last year, he was using RPM blast but I think he moved away from that.
Not sure what he used in Australia. Whatever he was using at the USO last year, he should switch back to that :)

Well he used a full bed of luxilon ALU rough 16 strung at 60 at last year's Rogers cup, so I bet it'd be that at the USO

Just wondering why a hybrid is not good for "banging"?

I strung 3 of his frames at Delray. He was using full alu power at 60 and 62 lbs.
