View Full Version : So What Really Happens When a Poly Goes Dead?

I get that when a poly goes dead, the strings start to move and you lose a lot of spin on the ball. I've experienced that myself in just a few hours using Babolat RPM Blast and Head Sonic Pro. But what's actually causing those results? Is it just loss of tension that causes this or is something else happening? Thanks for your thoughts!

Poly goes dead because its resiliency is very low, so it doesn't come back to its original state after deforming. That's why it loses tension.

There is no alternative to poly or co-poly strings. They are not similar to any other string type. You just need to find a poly that gives you long play time and holds its tension. Look at WeissCANNON, Signum Pro and Genesis for all of the above.

Definitely need to try Solinco Tour Bite 17. Had it in for a good 8 hours and almost NO notching or tension loss. Really is unbelievable.
