Interesting. Never seen anyone have lead go so far down (3rd main). Any thoughts?

It looks like he's trying to add weight without adding too much sw or changing the balance to me

You also don't know if he has any under the grommet as well.

Well the grommet is clear and while I can't say explicitly from this picture it looks like there's none under the grommet

Not sure to when you're referring to but he had a similar set up on the white speed

Bjorn Borg has the same lead application on the custom racquets in one of the threads in this section.
Djokovic started having visible lead at 3/9 c.a. Wimbledon 2010 and has been successful since. Just shows that adding lead under the bumper isn't necessarily better as the WTA would like us to think

Since the I was the one who took the bottom pic and saw his frame froma few yards away I can clarify he was using the same lead at Wimby

I think it is a natural idea to start the lead where the bumper ends for a uniform distribution of weight around the hoop. But ofcourse you can also do otherwise. It mimics the weight distribution of a bumperless or CAP'ed racket.

But the weird thing is that adding lead at that place will move the SS down in the stringbed, towards the throat of the racquet. Matbe Djokovic felt that he needed lead there because he was making ball contact close to his body.

having the lead lower in the head will influence how stiff the head feels too (ie more lead there = stiffer feel)... it is interesting, not many people do this.

He certainly needs some lead tape around his mouth, but duct tape would do as well. :D

it's interesting that in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSon-gazvKo nate ferguson says that head places the lead on novak's frames and not priority one.
^^Thanks for the link, he also said Djokovic used a 4 3/8 grip as well. I always thought he was a 1/2.

were did you get the 3/4 info from. ?
Greg raven, did you meassure djokovic's frame at BNP PARIBAS ?
or any other who got the new specs from 2011?
SW, Balance, weight, tension

He (Nate F.) did state that Djokovic uses a #4 handle in other videos, I remember it distinctly. Maybe he's just changing around.
^^ A 1/2 would make the most sense. I would assume his hands are massive given his height.

Yup. Probably so... but it's still preference, and his preferences might have changed...or Nate might have rushed in the interview...or whatever.
Found the other reference...where he mentions the 4 1/2 (#4)

His lead tape/configuration changed since then as well since there was no visible lead on that racquet...it was somewhere under the bumper...and now it is very visible @ 3 + 9 and below...and done by the Head pro room as per the latest video posted in this thread.

Seeing as how Djo is a P1 customer, that might prove difficult unless Greg Raven is also a ninja ;)
