I'm a full poly user but would like to start using a gut main/poly cross setup. In order to extend the life of the gut, I want to use string savers but I'm worried the "snap back" I love so much will be affected and I'll lose spin. I'd like to hear some feed back from anyone who uses string savers (what ever brand) on gut main/poly cross setups. Thanks.

Roger Federer uses this setup for more feel .. he cuts all the strings out after every match.. do a search..

We are all well aware of Fed's setup and that answer's my question how?

Babolat string savers, I've heard, use a low friction teflon-like finish. In my experience, having used those savers before, strings do snap back just fine.

Babolat Elastocross are the easiest to install and the least intrusive to the feel of the string bed.

It's that word Elastocross that really had me worried - sounds like they are made of a rubber like material.

It's the elasticity that makes them so much easier to install than other brands. They also are much flatter than the other brands so they don't separate the cross and main string as much.

Babolat Elastocross string savers increases snap-back..

i have ng mains/head rip control crosses (feels like very soft poly) and i can tell that i am getting more spin with the string savers.

Experiment. buy a pack ($6.00). Put about 9 ss on #1 main vertically. move the string sideway and let go. do the same thing on the other #1 main w/o ss and decide if you can tell any difference in the snap back between the two. I can on my setup.
