Report: Sampras' stolen trophies recovered

Police have recovered cartons containing Pete Sampras' stolen trophies from behind a Los Angeles hospital, TMZ reports. According to the report, a private investigator working for Sampras told hospital staff the items might be left there Saturday. Police were called when the cartons were seen.

No more information was given about the theft or the discovery. The bulk of Sampras' trophies and clippings were stolen from a storage facility in December.

Look like we can't blame Agassi or Murray anymore. Still who would steal something and then give it back ...above it all leave it behind a hospital. Maybe some dissillusioned person who dreamt of winning a slam took it for ride and returned it.

It's pretty simple, either they knew what they were doing and couldn't find buyers. Or they didn't and didn't know the first thing do with the trophies.

Here is an excerpt from Agassi's future memoir on this story:

The thieves contacted Pete for a "ransom" in exchange for all the trophies. But to their dismay (but not to mine), all Pete would pay was $1.

****sed but unable to find other buyers, the thieves had no choice but to abandon them at a nearby hospital.

Either:

A} some altruist who wanted to donate them

B} some psycho who wanted to make all hospitals look like thievery joints and frame the hospital

I'm going with Darth Vader on this won

Pete Sampras' stolen memorabilia is returned

An attorney allegedly representing those who took the items contacted his investigator say the trophies and other items would be returned, with the expectation of no further investigation or penalty.

Much of the tennis memorabilia stolen from Pete Sampras last November has been returned, according to an attorney who worked with investigators on the case.

Anthony Salerno, a Century City lawyer hired by the Sampras family to help in the investigation, said Sunday that another attorney allegedly representing those who took the material from a storage facility had contacted his investigator early Saturday morning to say the trophies and other items would be returned, with the expectation of no further investigation or penalty.

Salerno said that boxes of the Sampras memorabilia showed up Saturday morning at a hospital in Marina del Rey, and have now been turned over to the Los Angeles Police Department's commercial crimes division.

Salerno said that he had no idea why they were left at the hospital. He said he hoped that Sampras would have his memorabilia back after the police did an inventory. He said that other things taken from the storage facility, such as furniture Sampras and his wife, Bridgette Wilson, had placed there temporarily while moving homes, had not been returned.

The bigger question is how does Rampras feel about this? Can he finally sleep at night again?

Could it be - could it just be - that Rampras stole them?
