I think also the terminology changed in the last years. the term semi western grip wasn't even present back then.

In these days the eastern was most common and anything south of an eastern grip was called western.

but in the last years anyone used the western grip so that the term SW grip was invented to further differentiate between the grips.

15 years ago anyone would have called novaks grip a western grip.
