So here we are again ..nadal having reached the final of IW and KB..once again tryinghis best to shorten his career by destroying his knees.
It's a real pity he will round out his twenties watchig RG fromhis wheelchair asking "what mght have been"Guga style.

he will onlyhave toblamehimself.

It's a pity ,nadal was a great player.

I'msad to say it's too late..after beginning threads every spring imploring
uncle toni and rafa to skip the hc'sinthe spring..they just keep on with the
suicidal tendencies.

2009 wimbledon defense is the momument toremember.

Say hello to knee tendinitis. That is how you get it. Playing too many matches in a short span. 9 tournaments spanning from March-July. Too much tennis could end his career.

Ok and the rest of the tour isn't playing that much? It gets old having to hear this same mess about Nadal every year.

how can the rest of the tour play that much when only 2 people can reach a final? If you lose 1st round you don't play as much. Common sense

The more you win, the more matches you play. It's simple logic in tournaments. Djokovic understands it and that is why he skipped Monte-Carlo.

Yes it does and the media is taking it to a new level given injury excuses to everyone...even 3 years ago we didnt hear about injuries so much but now if you are not injured you didnt try hard enough

Guga has 3 slams all at RG
Rafa has 9, including 1 of each. I don't think he'll be wondering what might have been.

One thing to remember with all this is that if Rafa didnt drive himself into the ground with his tennis he would have never gotten as far as he has. Trying to get him to pull back is going to be difficult for him. Its like trying to tell Courier to stop training so much. Its part of his personality.

So what would be your recommendation then sir? For Rafa to skip a few clay tournaments, where he picks up the majority of his ranking points? Bet that would suit you right down to the ground. :-?

Skip Monte-Carlo like Djokovic did. That would be the logical choice. That Miami final was very taxing.

He played one more tournament than Nadal this season. So did Federer, who played Dubai too and plays Monte Carlo.

Nadal doesn't play more than the other players. He didn't even play enough ATP 500 in the last twelve months.

Wow, this forum is so cruel to a 3x slam finalist. "To Murray" now means to lose in first rounds :(

How 'bout he do a Đoković and not appear at all in some tournaments.

Or he could do a Federer and shorten his points.

Nonsense thread.

Nadal is playing LESS frequently than his rivals Djoker and Federer if we look at the last couple of months.

Now is the clay season and that has ALWAYS been the "rush hour" on Nadal's calendar and that will NEVER change.

If every player on tour overextended themselves (i.e. played with that sort of intensity), then Nadal would not have as many slams as he does. Most players don't go that overboard because they know playing tennis is about a career not just playing all out in the moment. You have to kinda save yourself. When players do that, they are apt to lose more often because they will not go all out, BUT, they get rewarded for that with a longer career. Nadal, in order to try and match Federer is going for broke and he has paid the price on occasion (see 2009). Nadal doesn't realize that Federer's talent is so extreme that Federer does not need to go all out and still win. Look how many physical injuries he had in his prime. He did get some sicknesses, but those were not mechanical body related really. Federer is special. Nadal wants to be special too, but simply wasn't born with that level of talent. This does not mean Nadal is not tennis talented, but not at the level of Federer. Hence we see Nadal's career unfolding as it has.

You clearly have never bounced a ball 23 times before each serve (1st and 2nd) for 3 sets. Only the King can do that.

Nadal is a full time tennis player, not a part time. Plus, these are two prestige MS events... no top players in their right mind want to skip(except for the WS). Other players would love to play but wasn't qualify. Funny you didn't mention Novak wasted all of his energy and the wear and tear on his body. That's b/c he won both events.
