View Full Version : james blake gets entry in main Wimbledon draw

After PHM drops out. Blake is ranked 102, so he's right on the margin.

Bizarrely, he hasn't played since early March. Didn't play in Queens or Eastbourne either. He didn't make the main draw in either, but he could have played the qualies.

Grass should be his best surface, he got to the finals of Queens a couple of years ago, I think. But apparently he only wants to play the big tournament, even though it will be his first match on grass. First round loser, IMO.

He got in as 2nd alternate after Mathieu and De Bakker withdrew.

Might be some Protected Ranking entries in the list (I'm too lazy to go looking). As for James, he is nursing at least one injury, possibly two, and I think people need to accept that he will only play the events that he can get direct entry or wildcards for until the USO, which will probably be his last event. Perhaps now is not the time to be so harsh/judgemental about his decisions.
