View Full Version : Less heavy racquet with same feel? (volkl tour 10 mid)

I'm currently using a volkl tour 10 midplus (about 330) grams, witch has for me the right amount of power and feel. However, I have noticed lately that when I am playing longer matches, my technique begins to suffer. Has anyone a suggestion for a racquet that is less heavy, but has about the same feel and power?

you can buy a new bumper/grommet kit and trim it down and that will make this frame more headlight and easier to swing. thats what i did with mine. let me know if you want to try this and i will walk you through it..it makes a big difference..at least it did for me. the Tour10Gen2 swings a bit easier than the frame you have, but doesnt have the juice.

How does the 9 feel?

I tried the tour 9 some time ago and didn't like it, but I might try it again.

NoBadMojo, how much weight can the racquet lose after a grommet operation?

Hey Joost, heb je de Mfil 300 of Dunlop 300G al eens geprobeerd?

Hey Joost, have you tried the Mfil 300 or Dunlop 300G yet?

I think you should give it a try, it weighs 310 strung, just add 10 grams of leadtape, and there you have a very good replacement for your VOlkl Tour 10 midplus!

Shaved bumper guard, both sides, till 13th grommet hole is equivalent to about 10 grams, and a world of difference...

IMO, the M-Fil 300 is nothing like the Volkl Tour 10 Mid. Much more power and stiffer, too. Also, too light as well.

How about a Vantage?

I have used the 300g, but couldnīt find the right amount of leadtape. I also changed my playing style somewhat. I recently hit with a 300g that weights about 320 grams, but the feel was very different compared to my Volkl (Ik vond het niet lekker :p )

That sounds interesting and enough of a change to try I also have a heat shrink sleeve on the racquet. If I change it for different pallets it could be a change of about 18 grams.

Today I also tried the tour 9 18x20. I might get that as a backup...

Thanks for the suggestions

Is that supposed to be German?

NBMJ - Would you happen to have know where I could get grommet sets for the T10 VE Mid? I want to get them and shave them down like you suggested to make the frame a bit lighter. Let me know. Thanks

They don't have the V-Engine grommets. That's why I asked you, you seem to know a lot about Volkl.

Ok. Looked a lot like a butchering of German.
