Hi TW,

Was looking to buy some grommets for the reissued Wilson PS85 (I normally like to stock up on grommets for all my rackets). Any chance you will be stocking them? If so, I hope I can still add to my existing order....

Update: I called TW directly and they actually have replacement grommets for sale (currently $6.99/ea, so I added two to the original order - great customer service). I just can't find it on the webstore.

Note: Received PS85 with the additional replacement grommets. The replacement grommets only differ in the throat piece(s). The re-issued PS85 throat grommets is one piece (with 6 holes), while the replacements are 3 individual peices (2 holes each).

wait, are you saying the throat grommets are the old 3 piece grommets?

On the PS85 I just received, the throat grommet is one piece.

The packs of replacement grommets, the throat grommet is 3 pieces.

The other pieces (2 x side, 1 x guard) looks exactly the same as what's on the PS85 - as far as I can tell by putting them side by side. (I ordered the PS85 unstrung).

They aren't Wilson-made. TW emails said they would fit St. Vincent models, but JoelDali said he tried them (in the past) and said they didn't fit and had to be cut. When I get mine tomorrow, I'll see if I can put them on my St. Vincent and I'll post back.

I suppose that's why they're labeled "Wilson Prostaff Original 6.0 85 Grommet Equivalent."

Just to confirm...you got these to fit on the St. Vincent ProStaffs? If so, hallelujah!

I saw frunk's pics and it looks as if the grommets line up with his frame which isn't the current reissue. I'm curious to know if the parts do or don't fit the latest runs of Chinese frames easily......

As I've stated above, I ordered the grommets (x2) with the latest run of Chinese PS85 frame in L3 (blx butt cap). The grommets looks to line up correctly. Again, the only difference is the bridge grommet where the Chinese PS85 frame comes with 1 piece installed the replacements is 3 separate pieces.

Since I never had SV frame, I do not know the grommet difference.

Between the mid-SVs and Taiwanese frames compared to the Chinese frames, there's a slight difference in the spacing of the mains.

In my experience, the one-piece throat strip and the sides of the head guard and at the base of the side strips can problematic.

Also, the earliest Pro Staff Midsizes had narrower diameter holes. The newer grommet strips may not fit......

I guess we won't find out until someone actually tries to put it on either models (STV and the new re-release China PS85).

I bought these and they do not fit a bumperless STV.

End of story.

Nothing to be confused about.

These grommets do not fit a bumperless STV.

If you want to chop and hack them in go for it.

I guess the best option is to send your STV to Howard but no one here can vouch for the lifetime STV grommet work he does.

I'm gonna go there myself, but after playing with my china 85 last night, I don't care about the STV all that much. The Chinese was a pleasure to play with last night. That sounded erotic. LOL.
