View Full Version : Timeline?
Does anyone know any links to see how the racquet has evolved over the last few decades?
If nobody knows, how about starting a thread where we each add one or a few dates where a technological advancement was made, like this:
1976/ Prince first introduced the mondo 110-square-inch head.
1979/Head Vector. Each string was individually strung. Man I loved that racquet. Break a string, pop another one in.

Approximations only, please.
1980 (+/- 1 year) :
- Wilson's PWS
- Graphite / Composite rackets
1983 (+/- 1) :
- Pro Kennex's Micro System. They use very fine guage strings and the pattern was like 20 x 22 (or 22 x 24?) for an 85 sq in head with quite low tension. Very soft on the arm. The technology didn't live long ...
- Rossignol's "Inverted Bridge".
1986 (+/-1 year) :
- Introduction of graphite-ceramic rackets
1990 (+/-1 year) :
- Prince's CTS.
- Prince's Double-bridge.
... Then I was out of the circuit for a long while ...
Wow, impressive.
Let's keep this thread going..
