View Full Version : Do HEAD pallets compress over time??

I have a few HEAD rackets, 4 1/2 grip, and they've been feeling small lately. I demoed a 4 3/8 and it felt like the 4 3/8 demo grip was bigger than my 4 1/2s.

Was it my imagination?? Or do the pallets compress, with use, over time.

And, I just installed a new replacement grip, no difference.

It certainly is possible. I installed a Head pallet a few days ago and it feels like very dense styrofoam.

Depends on what kind of pallets, but in general, yes.

Far from it! Of course they compress over time...

Maybe it's more cushion grip compression.

Yeah, the two piece pallets. They felt ok when I first got the rackets, maybe 5 yrs ago. But now they feel small, I've even had the racket slip out of my hand a couple times.

Anyway, the next rackets I get I'm going back up to 4 5/8.

It's not the grip, I put a new grip on and it didn't change a thing. Still felt small.

If you just put a new RG on couldn't you have verified the compression visually?

Didnt have anything to compare it against. I guess I could measure just the circumference of the pallet, but I dont have a new racket, or new pallets, to use as a baseline.

Plus I'm not sure I could eyeball the 'shrinkage'.

That makes since, I just thought the compression, if there indeed was any, would most likely be lower on the pallet, where you grip it, and could be compared to higher up where you dont grip it as often, if at all depending on 1HBH v. 2HBH.
