That Djokovic has been playing too much tennis, which is why he retired at Cincy? He took a month long break after Wimbledon, and then one won tournament before Cincy.

Mardy Fish, on the other hand, made what, 5 straight finals during the same time span? Djokovic's injury didn't come from playing to much, he got injured because he was playing like dooty during cincy. Thank you, have a good night.

Yeah but Fish hasn't won 9 titles (including 2 slams) in the last 6 months or so. It's cumulative wearout.

First of all Fish made 3 straight finals versus Djoker who has won every tournament he's played except one, and after Fish's 3 straight finals, he withdrew from his next event. And just because these guys aren't playing tournaments, doesn't mean they aren't out practicing for hours a day, time off the tour doesn't = sipping margaritas by the pool.

So winning a tournament = more wear on the shoulder?
No, it's how much you play. True, Mardy did go out early in a few tournaments earlier in the year with his health issues and whatnot, but he's still been playing all year. Djokovic took a month off. Playing two tournaments after a month long break shouldn't kill you, regardless of what you did earlier in the year. Fish has spent the past few months making deep runs in just about everything he's entered, and I don't see him quitting when he's losing.
