James Blake, Fernando Gonzalez, Andy Roddick,

Andy Roddick does not hit a huge forehand anymore. It is a fluff shot nowadays.

the elbow was a big reason why Sampras could generate so much topspin with his Eastern grip and classic follow-through. Pointing the elbow closes the racket face.

His powerful leg lift was probably another reason. And tight strings yet another.

The answer is almost all of them. Very few make the first move to lay the racket head back toward the back fence. Fed rotates shoulders and R elbow lead back. This is common. Vic Braden wrote about this in the 70s - Borg, Vilas were prime examples. This isn't anything new. It makes stroke more compact, keep racket in front of chest with head up which is ideal position to start kinetic loop into swing.
