Due to feeling really sick :-?

So lots of cheers now especially from the ***** and SOME Americans (who for some reason hates him)

Wow, you're using a pretty broad brush to paint all Americans as hating Sodering, don't you think??

I'm American and I don't really like him as as player. But it's not because of some sort of personal bias against the Swedes. I loved Borg. I don't like Soderling because of his attitude and I don't like his playing style.

But now I think more Americans actually WILL hate him because of your post.

I'm American and he's my favorite player, so yeah.....

Sad to see him go. These have been a rough few months for Sod.

I'm American and I like Soderling. With that said, he's been painted in a very negative light by the commentators here. Casual fans believe what they hear. It's why one of my fellow coaches disliked him. She also told me she likes Fish because he's so nice, dumb commentators say the same. She hasn't seen Mardy act like the complete tool he really is.

I predict the crowd will stone him next year based on that post.

Sorry to hear that. I like Soderling. I am from the US. He says whats on his mind, so rare for a tennis pro.

I am an American and I like him since he beat Nadal at FO in 2009

Big guy,big game, big attitude.Does not necessarily mean he is anything but what he portrays, which is more than can be said for some pro's.Maybe he will be disliked more, but when he says how happy he is to be playing in NYC next year they will probably forgive him.

Sod hasn't been a thorn in Nadal's side for a l-o-n-g time now. I suppose you're to be forgiven for thinking Sod's his nemesis due to the infamous FO...but, guess what? Sod hasn't beaten Rafa since 2009!!! The last three times they've played, Sod's given him some trouble but not enough to take it all away....

As a result, I actually think of Sod as Nadal's pidgeon nowadays...

Sorry. No cheers from me for Sod's withdrawal. It makes no difference to a Rafa fan.:)

oh...and, fyi, as an American, I don't care, either - LOL!

Besides that one incident with Nadal at Wimbledon, what exactly has Soderling done to 'deserve' his 'big attitude' reputation?

Because he is a quiet guy in the locker room? Wow, he's worse than Hitler.

He beat the Humble One once.

I heart Soddy. I haven't seen him play live so I made last year I did, saw that match against Haider Maurer (sp). He has softened a bit now but I liked his I-don't-care-what-you-think-of-me attitude. And this....

Soderling is almost like Safin, expect Safin was a badass.
Similar styles of play, very aggressive and powerful baseline play and banging serves. He can't really compete because his movement is not up to par with the others and also his backhand is just a push.

Just a push? I'm not quite a Soderling fan but really? REALLY?

It's a bit worrying for Robin!

He started the year in great shape, winning 3 titles and then fell ill at Wimbledon.
He recovered to win his home tournament in Bastad in fine style beating two top ten players back to back for the loss of just 5 games! Then he withdrew from Montreal and Cincy with a wrist injury. Now he's withdrawn from the USO through illness again!

He suddenly seems to be struggling with chronic fitness issues. I wonder if he is suffering from an as yet undiagnosed condition similar to Venus Williams??

I was upset when I created the thread. That was a mistake.

I now have changed the original post

That is my perception of it.

"Feeling really sick" is the only reason he gave for withdrawing? I hope he's ok.....

He has had a strange year. Doing very well in 500 tournaments but sucking in the Masters and Slams. Anyway I dont think he is the threat he was in 2009 and 2010. He will stay in the top 10, even while having 0% chance to ever win a slam or probably even another Masters, awhile longer though only since the field is so weak and there is nobody to kick him out of it for awhile.

Very bad for the tournament, Robin can beat anyone when he is on. Injuries have really destroyed his year, its not like he is incapable of playing at a high level as he showed in the 4 tournament wins he has this year. He was injured for IW and Miami and also for much of the clay season, as well as Wimbledon and then the US hard court season. I think he will recover his position inside the top 6 or so by this time next year provided he can stay healthy, he is too good a player not to.

Massive weapons on the FH, BH, and serve; a combination that few, if any players possess.

Soderling was in Murray's quarter. He was never beating him. He also had Del Potro in the 4th round, another player who owns him. I dont think he was going to do anything here anyway.

Soderling was in Murray's quarter. He is Murray's b*tch and gets spanked everytime they play. Murray doesnt seem bothered by Soderling's power at all, and even ramps up his own when they play.

Uh...their H2H is 3-2 and since they both made their breakthrough it is 1-1, so I'm not sure where you got this idea that Soderling is Murray's b*tch...

I wasn't 100% against Marin. Do you even watch tennis?

Yeah watched it, Cilic creamed the opponent. Now you sound like Rafa or Serena.

Btw, you should have picked another name, like Yodic perhaps?
