View Full Version : Interesting quote after Wimbledon from Roddick.

"If I played the way I did this year versus the way he played last year, I'd probably win," Roddick said. "But he played head and shoulders above that."

I would take from that statement he believes he played even better tennis in this years Wimbledon final than last years. I dont know about all of you, but that was never my first impression. Is his point of view on where his game currently about right, or is he being a bit over-optimistic?

He's absolutely right.....he's had quite a few near perfect matches against Fed...but he still could not win..best example in Toronto last year...he still lost....the only match he won...in Montreal 2003....Fed gave the match away with 3 or 4 unforced in the tiebreak....

.......same with Hewitt...near Perfect match at Wimbledon..but still lost...

In both cases I think it's a matter of match ups.
Safin can handle exchanges better with Fed...because his backhand is superb.
Nadal has nasty lefty spin which neutralizes Fed's movement.
