...between the Top 2 or 3 seeds?

I'm talking about absolute mint-performances against the next-best player in a Grand Slam final, where the winner played almost 'perfect-tennis'...
I don't know specifically about the US Open, Roland Garros or AUS Open, but at Wimbledon, between the top 2 or 3 seeds, I remember:
Borg - Connors '78 (6-2, 6-2, 6-3)
McEnroe - Connors '84 (6-1, 6-1, 6-2)
Sampras - Agassi '99 (6-3, 6-4, 7-5)
Federer - Roddick '05 (6-2, 7-6, 6-4)

Who's your pick?

Federer 6-0, 7-6, 6-0 Hewitt at the '04 US Open is a severe crushing too...
Anymore to add that spring to mind over the years??

If Federer-Roddick this year was a crushing then I'd have to say:

Federer-Safin '04 7-6 6-4 6-2 (Not sure about Safin's seeding)
Hewitt-Sampras '01 7-6 6-1 6-1
Safin-Sampras '00 6-4 6-3 6-3

Safin was unseeded - he was ranked 86 going into the AO.

2 - Hewitt-Sampras '01 7-6 6-1 6-1
3 - Safin-Sampras '00 6-4 6-3 6-3
Hmmm...
1 - Debatable in regards the seeding...?
2 & 3: Yeah, Id have to agree even though Sampras may have been 'on-the-slide' at this time (regradless of beating an equally 'on-the-slide' Agassi the very next year)

But anyways, straigh-set defeats of Sampras is pretty impressive...

connors over rosewall 6-1,6-0,6-1, although rosewall was lower than a third seed

both at the us open

i think i remember the 1991 us open final went something like:
stefan edberg def. jim courier 6-2,6-4,6-0.

edberg was no.1 and courier was no.3 i think.

wrt agassi-clement, this was one sided because it was a mismatch (in terms of ranking and career achievements). it was the same as with some other one-sided grand slam finals like agassi-schuettler or ferrero-verkerk.

Chalk another one up to bad seeding.

The guy from Russia plays perfect tennis, and leaves the ESPN commentators speechless.
