Hi, I'm new here.

I've just got back into the game after a lengthy break.
I'm going to join a league at the local club here and was wondering if any could give advice on how to approach my first match.
It might seem to vague but similar stories would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Before matches I start freaking out!! I have a tournament coming up at the end of this month and I'm already practicing for it, lol. You have to relax and breath. Get that unbeatable mindset. Know that YOU ARE THE BEST!! Attack the ball and your opponent. Attack the other player physically and mentally. Spot out their weakness(es) and pounce on it!! Dig down deep inside yourself and you might be surprised.

...thx.

The question was a bit too vague to begin with but I'll keep those points in mind.

Personally before anything competative, i listen to really violent song or something, it get's me pumped and in the mindset of "i control you and this match will be a slaughter in my favor" kind of thing.

My lengthy break was 10 years. After about a month of getting back in, I joined a 3.0 league.

It was great. Helped me a lot.

I was just as nervous before the match. But honestly, just put it in perspective. You finally get to show what you were like before the break. If you lose, you're getting back the experience and will probably improve extremely fast. If you win, you're still set and on track.

And it's a league. You'll have a lot more matches you're going to be playing, and if you lose one nobody really cares.

You're fine.

As for the violent music, I find calming myself DOWN before the match works better than pumping myself up.
