Last meeting: Djokovic def. Federer in 5 sets, US Open 2011
H2H 2011: 4-1 Djokovic

Djokovic vs Nadal

H2H: 16 - 13 Nadal
Last meeting: Djokovic def. Nadal in 4 sets, US Open 2011
H2H 2011: 6-0 Djokovic

I prefer Djokovic vs. Federer because they throw lightning bolts at each other with complete control and amazing shots. Nadal and Djokovic is more of a an endurance contest since Nadal plays loopier shots against Djokovic.

For me, Federer vs Djokovic by far at the moment. Slam final is where I want to see them facing each other. Their rivalry is very hot ATM since their last two slam meetings were brilliant and full of drama.

Djokovic vs Nadal is also great of course but one-sided in 2011. Rafa can spice the things up by beating Novak at some of the slams in 2012 (I hope not).

Federer vs Djokovic. I like both....but I like the feeling of when Federer def Djokovic. If Djokovic gets through then that is fine.

The matchup provides an even likeing for both.

Djokadal.....I hate Nadal....and if Nadal wins I am ****ed...so no thanks.

Actually I love both :)

Nole- Fed because Fed is the only player who knows how to get in Nole's head. Plus, Nole doesn't care all that much about Fed as one of the all time greats. There is something very different about this matchup and I like it. Their matches are to say more "intellectual" as opposed to

Nole-Rafa. This is where it gets very physical and not so much 'intellectual' :) Plus, Nole brutally exposes Nadal's deficiencies in so many level and shows who the real 'warrior' is haha :D

Fed vs ****. At least those matches are competitive and not a total steamroll like ****'s matches against Nadal.

I think the general view here is that in the Djoker-Nadal matches, its more physical, however not in the way that would engage. Their rallies are longer, but usually it just drags on until Djokovic gets on the offensive and breaks down Nadal. Whats great about it is the amazing defense, its sort of Defense vs Defense here, who'll come up with an amazing out of position shot? Who'll find a way to get out of trouble? That sort of thing if you're into it. I don't think it reaches the level of intensity the Fed-Djoker matches do, but it has its own unique atmosphere.

The Fed-Djoker matches are more entertaining in general because we're seeing both players trying to impose, it really reflects a struggle, who'll be able to push the other over the edge and impose. We see lots of hard hitting, Federer can take the ball on the rise really well, and Djokovic has amazing defense. What stands out in this match up is the shot making ability of both. We see a lot more variety here in terms of shots, since its basically two really great players who can play from all area of the court, save for maybe Novak being a bit shaky on the net. It's the more intense rivalry, highly dramatic, high energy tennis. IMO I've always prefered this match up, even when Federer was steam rolling it was very entertaining.

More or less my sentiment. 2011 Miami final did have some good shotmaking. But yeah, when those two play, there are a lot of useless rallies.

I prefer Nadal vs Djokovic. Their US Open showdown was incredible. I have never seen more physical tennis. The only match I did not enjoy was the Wimbledon final.

I hate Federer and Djokovic matches. All their matches are filled with patchy play, especially their "epic" US Open SF showdowns. Federer always starts with the upper hand and grabs the opening sets, Djokovic then turns it up (Federer helps by folding like a napkin) and wins some lifeless 6-1 6-2 sets. Then Djokovic beats Federer on mental strength in the deciders. I was so happy when Federer held off Djokovic in the 4th set at RG.

Lucky Federer's serve was on fire at RG. If Djokovic had won that 4th set TB, Federer would have been toast.

Wtf does this even mean?? Roger's serve has always been a big part of his game.

Absolutely! That is why I was happy that his serve was on fire. Federer lives and dies by the serve. Federer was winning only half of his second serve points in that SF. Novak was a far superior baseliner than Federer in that match. Djokovic was dying to get balls back in play during the 4th set tiebreaker because he knew that he could win baseline rallies, but Federer shut him up by firing down huge 1st serves.

I actually wish Roger had won the USO semi instead. Fed-Nadal at the USO and Djoko-Nadal at the FO in the finals would have been great.

Nadal took 2011 off, as he takes most odd years off. I surprised he even won a slam, since I didn't realise that he was even playing on the tour.

You're argument makes no sense, where is your proof that he takes odd years off :/ He's won a slam in 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2011. He was playing well this year, reached many finals, lost most of the major ones to Djokovic because he was outplayed. It's something that must be accepted, every tennis player is entitled to having at least one player that is kryptonite to them. If you're being serious, I apologize for not comprehending your logic, if you're trolling, stop being childish and try to post something relevant or leave.

This year is over. **** is at his best retiring self. New year will resume the proper order of things and down grade Retirovic to his rightful 3d place in the ranking.

I like the Nadal/Djokovic matches. Each rally is so taxing. It's literally survival of the fittest. It makes tennis look even more difficult than boxing  It's bone-breaking drama seeing Nadal and Djokovic play. Just grinding brutal rallies.
Federer/Djokovic on the other hand is a more pleasant experience because of faster rallies and points are generally a lot shorter.
But between the two, the Nadal/Djokovic matches are great. And also because they both grunt really loudly with each shot they hit.:)

I don't watch Nadal-Djokovic matches. It's tedious to watch those long rallies, particularly on surfaces that are atleast supposed to be fast. I know Roger goes into periods nowadays where he looks physically gassed out but he's still able to provide the variety and creativity that I like to watch in a tennis match.

Eh, time will tell, I'm not really into rankings that much at this point, I think all of Top 3 can beat each other, it just depends on who play the important points better. Murray is getting into the convo but he'll need to push a bit more. Anyway, that's another topic, who knows what'll happen. The question being asked is which match up do you prefer, from your post I'm guessing your a Rafa fan so naturally you'd pick the Nadal vs Djoker match up.

Yeah, it's definitely the more physical match up since it is mostly baseline oriented. I see your point, its very dependent on the viewers taste if he's into long rallies. However from my perspective, I've watched all of their matches this year, somehow, I always had the feeling that Djokovic would pull through one of way or another, so it sort of took away from the intensity of the match up, from my perspective of course.

The Federer-Djokovic match up gets to me because I honestly have no idea whats going to happen. I know Federer can beat Djokovic at his best if he can consistently play well. I know despite that its always going to be close. The matches are very intense because both men are fighters even if its not visually apparent when it comes to Federer. I can just feel that both players are really tense, neither of them really gets relaxed until the end. This is a stark contrast to the Djoker-Nadal match where I feel Djokovic is very relaxed from the start, and Nadal is extremely focused as well. Although its more physical, somehow Novak maintains a calm demeanor. When it comes to Federer, Novak is extremely tense, and so is Federer, they know each other so well, it all comes down to who'll play the big points better. It's like chess, its tactical, it is to some extent physical, and very engaging. It is also the more mentally taxing match, which also makes it even further unpredictable. So exciting.....

Federer vs Djokovic. Nadal vs Djokovic was incredible at the start because the results were so unexpected. I thought Djokovic would win Indian Wells and then when their matches continued I thought he'd win Madrid, but not Miami, Rome or Wimbledon.

The US Open final had a terrific 3rd set, one out the most gruelling I've ever seen (and a great positive advert for todays baseline game I think), but the other 3 were blowouts. Their most exciting match was the Miami final, so much drama!

Federer vs Djokovic though produced the two best matches of the year at the French and US Opens, which means a lot coming from me since their US Open semi final broke my heart.

I really hope next year we see Federer and Djokovic on opposite sides of the draw more often next year, there's a grand slam final I want to see.
