any general comments about my serve? i plan to fix my racket motion a little, not a fan of how the racket arm just drops after the ball toss.

You have a pretty SOLID serve. If you aren't a fan of your non racquet arm dropping, try and not drop it?

The basic motion looked decent, the serve went in and seemed to have a fair amount of speed.

Next, I would suggest working on placement. Lay out a couple old bath towels- one next to the center line and the other near the sideline. Alternate (say) five serves to one side, then five to the other. When it gets boring to hit the towels, fold them up a bit and try some more.

Keep at it, you seem to be on the right track.

Also, it would be interesting to see your "second" serve.

i did show some second serves. one of the second serves was at about 10 seconds. another one was at about 23 seconds.

I agree with you about the racquet arm dropping. What it is doing is forcing you to hurry the rest of the motion so that for instance you really don't have time for a full racquet drop behind your back. The forward swing ends up looking more like a badminton smash. It's very quick but it isn't very heavy.

You might want to address this with some shadow swinging. Check out this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um5q7Lx107k). BTW, I don't advise anyone hit a fence with a racquet they actually care about.

Here's another video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgdXawklcZk&feature=related) I think you might find valuable.

Were those slice or flat serves? The ones to the deuce seemed to have some slice... nice serving!

I think you should try to get a lot more rotation in the wind up; you hardly rotate at all. Imagine your back facing the target - you don't have to go that far but, give it a try & see the results.

Try not let the elbow start so low (in relationship to the body). Each link should uncoil like a holla hoop around your body. Your elbow is traveling up to much, while your body is uncoiling forward. The elbow should match the body. Especially since it is 52% of the power on the serve. Just think elbow 90 degress to body. It's funny how every one agrees the serve is a throwing motion but hardly any one uses a throwing motion. Good luck!
