how important is the paint job of a racquet to you?

would that deter you from buying a racquet if it was ugly looking in your opinion?

Not if it helps me play well, but I also demo rackets that I like the looks of. So I guess it's a chicken/egg thing.

Yup, I'm pretty shallow these days. If a stick has an awful PJ, chances are I won't groove with it. Although, I can count the amount of PJ's I DON'T like on one hand... :)

I couldn't care less how a racquet looks. I buy racquets to hit balls with, not to look at.

90% performance, 10% looks. I think it is possible for a PJ to be so awful that I wouldn't play the racquet, but it would have to be REALLY awful.

well...i was interested in a blx pink and black wilson racket...but ignored it due to its PJ

A good looking racket can be like good looking clothes. You feel more comfortable with it to some extent and it can reflect confidence.

I have however bought the exo tours, which isnt THE prettiest rackets out there...function definately was the main criteria...

The new rebel is to me one of the nicest looking rackets ive held in a while.

I like ugly rackets...that way I don't feel bad chipping and scraping them in the battle.

Only if it's pink. I once demoed a Tecnifibre, I think it was a 295XL or something, 102 sq.in. and so-help-me the paint was bright pink, not red. I just had no interest in dealing with the comments and stares. Anything else is fine.

Looks will probably keeps me from demoing any of the Wilson Juice models.

If it was the blade 98, I hope you know it's also available in gold/black...

Yeah...i saw...but they were not as affordable as my tours...and i don't like the new specs of the new blades - i also needed a tad larger headsize. (I used to play with a k-blade98)

I am getting used to the look of my tours...and not getting the stares i expected. The rackets also really really play well, except for the flat serve that need some work.

As for colour on rackets....i would like a nice green PJ...these days i like green.

I liked my recent Head IG Extreme MP but felt a bit of a berk due to the colour scheme!

If the racquet is ugly, I would try this out:

I dont' care for racket performance. I doubt my game is gonna be different between apd, pd, extreme, black, white, whatever. I get rackets based on looks, brands and favorite players.

For instance, I avoid Dunlop seeing how it performs in Verdasco's hand. Bleh.

I tend to look at rackets with better paint jobs but heck if it plays well why not use it regardless of the pj

I can't bear to even look at the Rebel 95, let alone play with it, no matter how good it is.... :(

I agree that I also think its 90% performance and 10% looks. If the racquet plays so well, and the pj is so ugly, then maybe strip the pj and do a blackout pj.

Do appearances matter? Well, I'm not buying a pink racket with Hello Kitty on it.

Not gonna lie, A KPS88 with a pink Hello Kitty PJ would be fantastic.
