I was abit curious on how HEAD Measures, They say that they measure their rackets OUTSIDE instead of the inside. Is this true, And is this also effective to the new Radical IG Pro?, They also say that the 107 OS HEAD becomes 104 OS HEAD. Like 98' its 95'. Any of you think its real?

Yes, well, an old topic.

Nothing to do with measurement, but the way they sold their racquets in metrics - 600 and 630 - in what were racquets that were really around 89 and 95.

The ig rad pro is a 95, like the rad mp, and looks like it. I think you're right about the OS but my memory is not so good on that one.

Yup it's true. I was disappointed initially because i had ordered the ig prestige pro thinking it was a 98 sq inch racket. Nevertheless, I'am very happy with the performance of my ig prestige pro. String it at 52lbs, and it has the forgiveness of a 98 frame.

Well I was happy for that because I was aiming for a 95 , I've demoed the Pro staff 6.1 95 in our local here but It didn't really work out for me, as they say its low powered. I haven't demo radical but I am sure it'll work out for me, I've used my uncle's 2011 Radical, It's abit great.

I don't really know how they get away with this given that it is misleading for those who do not know this.

Sorry if I double posted. I couldn't find the "Edit" button

I was also wondering, IF how I would string my Radical Pro, I am aiming for an Alu Power Rough in the crosses and Something in the mains, I still don't know what to string it in lbs. I was guessing abit on 52 too like RacketFever's But then that would be for the Alu Power Rough, Any of you guys have any idea for it?

To throw another wrench in...the youtek radical pro (100 sq in) matches almost exactly to my prince ozone tour (100 sq in). Perhaps its not Head's entire line that is calculated this way?

The old youtek radical pro was a newer beam design so it was the correct size.

I think it was made obsolete by the introduction of the speed line so the pro just became heavier rather than also bigger.

Yes its well documented the Prestige's and Radicals are smaller than they advertise.

I own 2 Speed racquets and can confirm they ARE correct head sizes (98" for Pro and 100" for MP).

I'm not sure abt the entire line.. But I do use a pc600.. And I just measure it against a k90 tour.. For some reason the k90 is very similar in size, in fact if you count how the pws protrudes in.. For some reason the pc600 is smaller?? Am I correct?

You're back! Do you still have access/have a desire to put more frames on the CAD machine?

I have not purchased a new stick in a long time. If I do, I'm sure I'll scan it.

If you have access to:
high resolution imaging device (e.g. large flatbed scanner, or digital camera)
something for reference (e.g. ruler, engineering scale, sheet of paper)
imaging software that can calculate area (e.g. AutoCAD, Photoshop)you can determine the actual head size of any racquet yourself. :)

very interesting topic.
how do you compare blx six.one 95 ( 18 ) to Pro Staff 95, because I played with the blx and it was powerful enough for me, maybe even too powerful.
I own yonex rqis tour 1 and it says 95 inch on it but it looks smaller than the blx 6.1 95

Yes the Prestige Mid is approx 89", some say 89.5"... compaired to a Wilson 90, it is slightly smaller.

Or, if you cut card stock or some other fairly dense paper to the size of the opening, weigh it, and then weigh a 1 square inch piece of the same paper, you can very easily determine the number of square inches. Obviously, you need a fairly precise scale. I know of a surveying company that used this exact method to determine the area of irregularly shaped properties back before computers were affordable.
